- Check the rinse aid Open the small dispenser next to the detergent cup and check whether it's empty — most have a window or indicator that changes color. Rinse aid helps water sheet off dishes instead of beading, and without it dishes can look wet and glasses can look spotty even when the heating element is working fine. Refill it and run one more cycle before checking anything else.
- Check the cycle setting Look at the control panel for a heated-dry or sani option and confirm it's turned on — many dishwashers default to a no-heat air-dry setting to save energy, which leaves dishes wet at the end even though every part is working correctly. Select the heated option and run the cycle again before assuming anything has failed.
