Every documented failure we hold for a microwave has a check that costs nothing, and it comes before any part. Some of them are the whole fix:
- Wipe down the latch hooks and strike plate — food residue there stops the door seating fully and mimics a bad switch.
- Test the outlet and breaker before assuming the fuse itself is blown.
- Clean around the button and lever pivot — grease buildup is the most common cause of a sticky latch.
- Make sure the tray and roller ring are seated correctly and nothing is wedged underneath — a jammed tray gets mistaken for a dead motor constantly.
- Just look at the coupler and tray notches first — this is usually a five-dollar plastic part, not a motor problem.
