- Watch a cycle happen Pull the machine out enough to see behind and underneath it, then run a short cycle and watch where the water actually appears — during fill, during wash, or during drain. Which phase it happens in narrows the leak to a specific system, a valve, a seal, or a pump, before you touch anything.
- Check the hose connections Look at both ends of the fill hoses and the drain hose for a loose fitting, a cracked washer, or a hose that isn't seated all the way. A slow drip at a fitting is the cheapest leak to find and the cheapest to fix: hand-tighten it or reseat it in its fitting.
- Check the detergent dispenser drawer Pull the drawer out and look for caked residue blocking the overflow channel, and check that the water lines feeding it aren't cracked. A blocked dispenser overflows into the cabinet instead of the tub and looks exactly like a leak from somewhere else.

How to check. Remove the dispenser drawer and check for caked detergent or fabric softener blocking the channels, then run water through it by hand to confirm it flows freely into the tub.
