Dryers carry a certified CEF (Combined Energy Factor — higher is more efficient) and a type flag (vented / ventless heat-pump / ventless hybrid) — the heat-pump-vs-vented gap is the single biggest running-cost swing in the whole appliance corpus (see methodology). Gas dryers (540 in this corpus) show no running-cost figure by design — their kWh figure covers the motor only, never the gas heating BTUs, and we refuse to present that as a total cost.
