Two checks that cost nothing
- Check the drain hose for kinks Follow the hose from the back of the machine to the drain point and straighten out any sharp bends, especially where it's been pushed in behind the machine. A kinked hose blocks drainage completely and costs nothing to fix once you find it.
- Clean the pump filter or trap Many washers have an access panel or a small door at the front bottom with a coin trap or lint filter ahead of the pump. Open it over a shallow pan, since it holds water, and clear out anything caught in it. This is the single most common fix for a washer that won't drain.
- Check the drain hose height and routing Confirm the hose is secured at the height called for in that installation, not looped low or draining freely into a sink below the machine. A hose routed too low can siphon wash water back out or trap an airlock that stops proper draining.

How to check. Check this last, only after the lock, latch, and motor circuits all test good, and look at the board itself for visible damage: burnt spots, a bulging capacitor, a burnt smell.
